The customer wanted to streamline their logistics flow and surface treatment process by optimizing transportation ratios and minimising the time used for packing. Three different packaging containers were being used through the logistics cycle; one for internal transport, one for transportation to the cataphoresis treatment supplier and one metallic construction for the cataphoresis treatment.
Nefab’s Packaging Development Centre was involved in the CAD designing and a 3D loading simulation. The Nefab team, also consisting of Nefab sourcing and sales, presented a modular steel container that could be used through the whole logistics cycle. Cables were mounted on the container to achieve electrical conductivity demanded by the cataphoresis treatment which also puts special demands on evacuation of the paint. The container was equipped with open gates and sections to facilitate the loading/unloading. At the same time, the total weight of the container was kept to the lowest possible.
