The customer was beginning a brand new project and needed packaging for excess oil and ventilation
covers. The packaging had to be collapsible with the possibility of packing the excess oil and the ventilator cover into the same box. There were strong requirements on clean packaging and a flexible design which was easy to handle and ergonomically designed. The customer also wanted an
internal reusable system within their internal flows.
The customer have used Nefab before and they were impressed with the high quality of the boxes in production, so they turned to them again to develop a solution for their new project. A project team was formed between Nefab’s construction department, their suppliers and the customers packaging technicians.
A prototype was designed and tested and the solution was a customised returnable
packaging in lacquered plywood. The packaging was collapsible due to Volvo’s lack of space and a quality locking system was implemented.
Customer Benefits from Nefab Packaging
The customer used to use its own packaging (F-pallets with collar) which were big, clumsy and space consuming. The Nefab solution is more flexible, much smaller and although the customer has not calculated the savings in money or time, the staff see the solution as much better than the F-pallets because in the past there were lots of loose pieces lying around.
