They wanted to develop packaging where all handling could be automised and logistics costs kept to a minimum. The packaging should be returnable, easy to use and should combine automatic load and unload from the container to the assembly line. The solution should be able to be operated by robots and cranes and the accuracy of size and tolerance should be very strict.
Nefab was chosen to find the solution because of its knowledge and wide experience on offering a complete packaging solution. Nefab also has the capability to get involved in the project at a very early stage. A project team was formed between Nefab’s and the customer’s technical and commercial engineers. Some of the supplier’s engineers were also involved. The product chosen was a steel container with thermoformed HIPS trays.
