Nefab's History

Nefab has experienced major changes since it was founded in the 1920s. The same spirit remains, a flat organization with short decision paths. A dramatic development has occured, from having been a production-oriented company, to now being a market-oriented, global service company.

Production focus

Nefab was founded in 1923 when Sigurd Nordgren started a carpentry workshop in Ovanåker, Sweden. In 1949, production was concentrated on breadboxes made of plywood and steel strip; the traditional "Nefab box" had been designed.

Product focus

During the 1960s and 1970s, both expendable and returnable packaging was developed together with the company's largest customer, Ericsson. The "Nefab box" becomes something of an industry standard in the telecom industry.

Market focus

When the Swedish industrial market had been landed, the step was taken to expand internationally during the 1980s. Beginning with Europe, the market development then continued to North America, Asia and South America. The concept is to be locally available for global customers.

Market and service focus

During the latter part of the 1990s, plans were initiated to alter the company´s direction to better meet customer requirements. The company expanded into numerous markets, with more companies being acquired to strengthen competence within various packaging material and service areas. The vision of becoming a global partner for complete packaging solutions is anchored.
