The Design Process of Nefab's PDC follow specific requirements and questions.
Customers play a large role in not only the speed of the process but also the quality. The more information PDC receives from its customers the better.
Nefab's PDC sum up questions into the following 5 areas:
Handling: This area of questioning is based upon your internal procedures. Determining how the product(s) are handled puts certain requirements on the packaging. In turn, when handling is not so often and is under careful watch, than the packaging designers have less to worry about when it comes to potential areas of concern.
Logistics: Another key area of questioning revolves around how/where the product is being shipped. Knowing this informs the packaging designer whether weight could be an issue, corrosion, etc... In addition to railcar shunting or swaying in a ship.
Product: Knowing your product is very important, especially when it comes to the inner packaging products. Certain products can only be touched by certain materials (scratching) so designers must keep that in mind when chosing the proper material or special supporting may be needed. Knowing your product is probably the most important element in the questioning process.
Constraints: When we refer to constraints, this is customer constraints - meaning... potential budget, inventory/warehousing capabilities, etc.
Specifications: This is the areas for numbers. l x w x h, truck/container size, drawings...
