Packaging brief:
Nefab patented “safety container” used as a basis for this new design optimised to the requirements of Nokia. The simplified packaging system glued to the pallet, with a simple corrugated foldable outer container was used with a very simple top, optionally shrink film could be used to keep the system together. Until the beginning of 2007 mobile phones were collected in shrink film packaging for short distance, and plywood containers for long distance deliveries. There was a demand from the market need to have a cost-effective mid-range packaging, which also covers production requirements.
The new solution - compared to the plywood - requires less space in logistics due to the fact that it is already fully assembled. You simply need to open the box and put the products inside – simple for operators. Finally the simple design top needs to be put on, and the flaps have to be put between the product’s masterpack and Safety “thin’s” sleeve. Due to its transport-optimised outer dimension there is no excess space on the truck. Since there are times when the end customer may only order half of the amount of mobile phones, in this case, the packaging sleeve can simply be cut off – creating a universal solution. The optional shrink film usage is a fast operation (full packing time is half than with the plywood box), and is also visible in the event thieves try to steal from the collector.
