The company was incorporated in 1960 when several factories that had belonged to the Spanish Army were grouped together. The seven factories in Spain develop and manufacture defense products and equipment. Nearly 2,000 employees work in the organization managed from Madrid. Today the company is part of the giant General Dynamics.
Explosive charges for shells have to be packed hermetically in officially approved plastic tubes. One box contains 20 charges and weighs approximately 1,000 kg fully loaded.
To store the products efficiently, boxes need to be stacked in the warehouse.
Nefab ExPak PS with a four-way pallet was chosen as the packaging solution. Standard tongues were replaced with eight "Eccentric Locks 94" on the front side, making it easier to open the box and get to the products inside - which was one of the requirements from the customer. To ensure the plastic tubes won't turn themselves around, a tray made of high density thermoformed platis (EPS), is used as an inne fitting.
Although the customer had already agreed on using wooden boxes, now the contract changed to state that plywood boxes from Nefab would used instead.
