Nefab has received the Innovative Spirit Award from Cytiva

We are pleased to have received the Innovative Spirit Award from Cytiva on their supplier day in October 2025. This recognition highlights the results made possible through close collaboration and a shared commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

Partnership with Purpose

This award honors one of Nefab’s solutions, which is a modular, pallet-optimized packaging system that replaces multiple box sizes and plastic fillers with one standardized carton and a paper-based insert, tailored to EUR-pallet dimensions. This design improves consistency, reduces plastic use, simplifies recycling, and streamlines logistics.

Our partnership with Cytiva has been built on transparency, shared goals, and a joint focus on improving logistics and reducing environmental impact. Through coordinated efforts, both teams have made significant improvements in packaging processes, emphasizing efficiency, sustainability, and quality in global operations.

Cytiva’s underscores these achievements as part of their award criteria:

  • Impactful and innovative solutions that lower emissions in packaging and distribution
  • Innovation driven by teamwork and collaboration
  • Consistent delivery of low-carbon, high-quality solutions
  • Positive contributions to Cytiva’s climate targets and operational standards

'Nefab continues to be a trusted and valued partner in our shared mission to build a healthier business, value chain, and planet.'

Delivering Measurable Results

This collaboration has achieved clear, quantifiable benefits including:

  • Reduced packing time by 50%, resulting in labor savings of 84,500 SEK per year
  • Decreased plastic use by 90% (from 313 kg to 29 kg per year)
  • Lowered outbound shipping volumes, reduced from 55 m³ to 48 m³ per year
  • Reduction of 402 tons of CO2, a 43% savings per year

In addition, as packaging volumes today are nearly three times higher than at project launch, these improvements have a growing impact every year.

Cytiva Innovative Spirit Award for Nefab 2025

Ongoing Commitment

The Innovative Spirit Award reflects the effectiveness of working in partnership to reach shared objectives in sustainability and operational improvement. Over the long term, these efforts are expected to save thousands of labor hours, eliminate more than two metric tons of plastic waste, and support Cytiva’s efforts as a leader in sustainable distribution.

We remain committed to advancing this partnership and continuing to deliver measurable results through collaborative innovation.

Optimized Foam Inserts for Cleanroom-bound Products

Our customer was using a legacy packaging design for the RPS (Remote Plasma Source) Adapters that was inefficient and costly. Their traditional "coffin-style" foam inserts consumed excess material, leading to higher expenses, more waste, and a larger carbon footprint. By re-engineering the packaging, we developed a streamlined, resource-efficient solution that provided the necessary protection while significantly reducing material use and volumetric weight.
