- The new facility is expected to create up to 100 jobs and responds to growing demand for industrial packaging in Mexico.
- Local ExPak production can help customers shorten lead times, reduce costs and customize packaging for their equipment.
- The lightweight, collapsible plywood solution offers an alternative to traditional wooden crates and can be transported and stored flat before use.
Monterrey, Mexico, October 26, 2026 - Nefab, a global provider of industrial packaging and logistics solutions, has inaugurated a new facility in the Monterrey metropolitan area, bringing ExPak production to Mexico for the first time. Local manufacturing of the collapsible plywood packaging can help customers shorten lead times, reduce costs and customize designs for heavy, sensitive and high-value equipment.
The investment responds to growing demand for industrial packaging in Mexico. The approximately 7,000 m² (75,000 sq. ft.) facility is expected to create up to 100 jobs, primarily in operations, with additional engineering and administrative positions.
Nefab marked the inauguration with an opening ceremony on October 23. The facility is located in Sabinal Industrial Park, near the Huinalá industrial corridor and the Apodaca airport zone.
“Packaging availability and lead times affect how manufacturers plan their shipments,” said Eric Wickman, Regional Managing Director, Latin America. “Producing ExPak in Mexico gives customers a local supply option and more flexibility when their requirements change. This investment expands both our production capacity and our ability to respond to those needs.”

Packaging designed to save space and weight
ExPak is a nailless, collapsible plywood packaging solution. According to Nefab, it is 40% lighter and 15% smaller in cubic volume than traditional wood-based packaging. Its collapsible design allows it to be transported and stored flat before assembly, reducing storage space requirements by approximately 60% compared with fully assembled packaging. It can also be reused where the product and logistics flow allow.
Designed for heavy, sensitive and high-value goods, ExPak supports applications in the datacom and cloud, automotive, electronics and telecom sectors. Depending on customer and transport requirements, packaging designs can be tested in Nefab’s ISTA-certified laboratories against applicable standards and conditions to the intended transportation route.
“Protection is the first requirement, but manufacturers also need to consider packaging weight, storage space and handling,” said Luis Sepulveda, Site Manager, Nefab Monterrey. “Our local engineering team can work with them to develop a design that fits both the equipment and the way it will be shipped.”
Local engineering backed by global expertise
The Monterrey engineering team draws on Nefab’s global engineering network to adapt established packaging designs to local customer requirements. Engineers work directly with the facility’s production team to develop and customize solutions.
