Nefab expands North American returnable packaging capacity with new hub

Nefab is marking the grand opening of its Wixom campus, which serves as a manufacturing and engineering hub for returnable plastic packaging and protective solutions used in automotive and advanced manufacturing.

  • Expanded capacity for returnable plastic packaging and protective solutions in response to growing demand from advanced manufacturing.
  • Integrated operations combine injection molding and engineered protective packaging production on one campus.
  • New Wixom campus serves as a regional Center of Excellence for returnable and protective packaging design, tooling, and production.

WIXOM, Mich., May 15, 2026 - Nefab Group has officially opened its Wixom campus, a dedicated manufacturing and engineering hub for returnable plastic packaging and protective solutions serving the automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors.

The integrated operation totals approximately 137,600 square feet across two buildings. One facility houses injection molding for returnable plastic packaging, while the second is dedicated to engineered protective solutions designed to cushion, separate, and protect products throughout the supply chain. Injection molding capabilities include press sizes ranging from 125 to 2,600 tons, enabling production from precision components to large-format packaging and material-handling systems. Together, the two facilities function as a regional Center of Excellence for returnable and protective packaging solutions, integrating design, tooling, injection molding, and engineered packaging production on one campus.

“Having design, tooling, and injection molding all on one campus means we can offer genuinely end-to-end service,” said Brian Finkel, Director of Operations at PolyFlex, part of the Nefab Group. “With press capacities up to 2,600 tons, we have the range to handle precision components and large-format systems while keeping quality high and lead times short.”

The facility supports reusable packaging systems designed to improve transport efficiency and reduce reliance on expendable packaging. Local production also strengthens supply chain resilience and reduces packaging waste for customers across the region.

“The expanded operation strengthens our ability to scale reusable packaging solutions across North America,” said Darrell Tiedeman, Vice President of Plastics Solutions Americas at Nefab. “As manufacturers move away from single-use packaging, increasing local production of returnable systems is key to improving both efficiency and sustainability across the supply chain.”

Located in one of Michigan’s established manufacturing corridors, the investment reflects Nefab Group's broader strategy to expand regional manufacturing capacity in North America, supporting customers seeking more resilient, sustainable supply chains.

Why Companies Need a Site-Wide Packaging Review

A site-wide packaging review helps manufacturers understand packaging across operations rather than product by product. By identifying inefficiencies, reducing complexity, and uncovering high-impact opportunities, companies can improve operational performance, sustainability, and readiness for changing requirements.
